DESCRIPTION
The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, through its AFA Teens division is
offering a $5,000 scholarship to one college-bound student each year based on a written
essay about the impact of the disease on their own lives. The first and second runners-up
will receive $500 and $250, respectively.

AMS FRESHMAN UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
DESCRIPTION
The American Meteorological Society is offering a scholarship program
open to all high school students planning to pursue a degree at a U.S. college/university in
the atmospheric or related, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences. The scholarship stipend is
$5,000, awarding $2,500 in two annual payments. The second year funding is dependent
on successful completion of first year.

2011 AMS/INDUSTRY MINORITY SCHOLARSHIPS
DESCRIPTION
The American Meteorological Society Minority Scholarships helps support
college educations of underrepresented minority students, Hispanic, Native American,
and Black/African Americans, who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related
oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The two-year scholarship is for $3,000 per year and is
renewable for the sophomore year after successful completion of the first academic year.

THE ASSOCIATION OF HISPANIC PROFESSIONALS, INC.
SCHOLARSHIPS
DESCRIPTION
The Association of Hispanic Professionals, Inc. will award three one-time
scholarships of $1,000 to graduating high school seniors of Hispanic descent who will be
attending an accredited institution of higher education.
The Association is co-sponsor for students attending Mercy College or Monroe
College. The amount is undetermined, pending college approval. Three additional cosponsored
scholarships of $1,000 each are the Latyn Scholarship, the Law Scholarship
and the Sobeida "Rae" Scholarship.

DESCRIPTION
The AXA Achievement Community Scholarship, a local program, awards up to
twelve non-renewable $2,000 scholarships in each branch office to high school seniors
who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in activities in school, the community,
or the workplace. The first 12,000 applications received will be considered.

PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION
The New York Metropolitan Area Program of the ChairScholars Foundation will award
up to $20,000 in tuition over four years to significantly physically challenged but not necessarily
wheelchair bound students planning to attend any college or university of their choice.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school senior enrolled in public school in the N.Y. Metropolitan area
2. Must have serious financial difficulties and could not go to college without financial

The Davidson Fellows Scholarship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000

JANDON FOUNDATION
DESCRIPTION
The Jandon Foundation in cooperation with Westchester County Board of
Legislators, has designed a scholarship exclusively to help academic achievers whose
families are on public assistance or with income below poverty level. High school
seniors who are income eligible and who might not otherwise go on to college will each
receive a $10,000 scholarship paid out over four years, on an ascending scale: Freshmen
would receive $1,000, sophomores $2,000, juniors $3,000 and seniors $4,000. Recipients
will also receive a laptop computer.

USA Funds, the national education loan distributor, will award nonrenewable

THE VEGETARIAN RESOURCE GROUP SCHOLARSHIP
DESCRIPTION
The Vegetarian Resource Group will award two $5,000 college scholarships to
graduating U.S. high school students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools
and /or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl.
